Our Story
Our family have lived in the area for over 100 years with our relatives coming to the area during the time of the Gold Rush era and passing down properties from generation to generation. We purchased Short Street Cottage a 300 acre working farm in 2019, with a view to running it as an extension of our larger property nearby. Fortunately, it came with a 30 year old cottage which we instantly set about bringing into the 21st century! The first stage of the renovation was to give the exterior a dramatic make over by painting it black! The intention being, that the black exterior would provide a stark contrast to the beautiful surrounding countryside and it does in spades! The benefit of large picture windows also takes full advantage of the views of the countryside
Once the exterior had been transformed, we painted the interiors, renovated the kitchen and installed new flooring throughout and then set about furnishing the home with either recycled, upcycled, repurposed or reused furniture. Much of the furniture, we were lucky enough to find in various outbuildings on the property and have lovingly restored to its former glory. In addition, we scoured thrift shops for all the carefully curated collections of vintage artworks and treasures. Our next phase will be an overhaul of the bathroom and laundry which will complete the renovations.
The property was created as an escape for our family to enjoy in luxury and style and now want to share this peaceful corner of rural NSW with others - we hope you love it as much as we do!
